Minnesota born means you bleed purple
Not because of the Vikings
More so because of Prince
Purple Rain hit the airwaves
I felt the need to prove who I was
Even as a child
A lover of Music
A lover of Minnesota
Forever loyal to Prince
I liked Prince before Prince was cool
I liked Prince before I knew great music
I bled purple before the rest of the world did
I wonder if I am the only one
That still sings Purple Rain
By myself without an audience
As if I am on stage on American Idol
At the top of my lungs
Usually just in the shower
But none the less powerful
Only restrained by the space
Of the walls that limit my arm movements
Yes When Doves Cry has a similar effect
But Purple Rain makes me move
Like it is my job
Might take this show on the road
Might just stay shower bound
In my own private Purple Rain

Kelli Gavin lives in Carver, Minnesota with Josh, her husband of an obscene amount of years and they have two crazy kids. She is a Writer, Professional Organizer and owns Home & Life Organization and a small Jewelry Company. She enjoys writing, reading, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. She abhors walks on the beach (sand in places no one wishes sand to be), candle lit dinners, (can’t see) and the idea of cooking two nights in a row (no thank you).
