Ylang Ylang
like with a vibrance
I focus on the still parts
the parts stilled by
silence by silence is
my weapon of choice
quite effective weaponry
cutting & wide
eyed it the cluster
of vibrance still
throbbing wings
of doves dipped
in saffron & salted
to a mariner’s
perfection all laid out
like a great sheath
of silk does refract
in prism refract
quite woven
table worn
in the wild
unsettled
curdling of
my sight

there in the mist
. . . . bright moment
. . . . . . . . shape forth
. . . . . . . . . . . . I quiver
like a sundog
. . . . shaking off
. . . . . . . . rainwet
there in the mist
. . . . grey lover boot strap
. . . . . . . . emerge my quiver
. . . . . . . . . . . . my pepper my
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . thorn slick
cobblestone center
& kiss worn
***
Tasseomancy
its coil & repetition
not like a snake
but like the ink
in a glass of water
how it swims a
ballerina swim
or like the desert
lost in focus
a cactus,
palo verde, hill of sand
a longing, cross-stitched
broken chain golden necklace
draped across the girdle of
Venus
something widens,
an empty dwelling floods
with sunset & some contour
finds footing in spatial folds,
a kind of collision
bent the way honey is
on the spoon

dolostone it is a part of her practice which follows its own pace & takes its own time, appearing as mist
does: suddenly all at once. Chanelle’s has read her poems all over the country & her work has been
